RESTORATIONS
We utilise state of the art contemporary filling materials and are an amalgam-free practice. Our innovative white tooth coloured filling material is 100% free from mercury, and can be colour matched to the exact shade, texture, and translucency of your natural tooth enamel.
As a highly durable material, this type of white filling does not expand or contract to temperature changes within the mouth and protects your damaged tooth from further decay.
DENTURES, NIGHT SPLINTS AND RETAINERS
The team at Barwon Heads Dental have extensive experience and expertise in fitting, comfortable and minimally invasive oral appliances. Working on the development of Mouthguard technology (see Mouthguards).
Dr. Milgate's transferrable knowledge is applied to all aspects of the dental practice utilising seamless digital scanning pathways. Jack is also involved in the training of these procedures and has published and presented cases internationally.
FISSURE SEALANTS
A clear or tooth-coloured coating which we can place on the chewing surfaces of your back teeth to help prevent decay. By sealing off the natural pits and grooves in your teeth, they stop food and bacteria from entering these areas and causing dental caries (tooth decay).
ROOT CANAL
The objective of root canal treatment is to save a tooth that has been severely damaged because of decay, disease, or injury. It is preferred to save your own tooth, where this is possible, as it will generally be superior to an artificial tooth. Your own tooth is likely to be stronger and better for biting and chewing.
It may be necessary to have several visits to the dentist to have the root canals cleaned and the infected pulp to be removed.
GUM OR PERIODONTAL disease treatment
As the leading cause of tooth loss for Australian adults' treatment of this (infection of the tissues that hold your teeth in place) is critical. Periodontal disease ranges from gingivitis, a simple gum inflammation, to periodontitis which causes serious often irreversible damage to your bone and soft tissue, and eventually tooth loss.
DENTAL HYGIENE
Our patients enjoy optimum oral healthcare via the services of our resident hygienist, Martin Sinnett. Hygienists manage oral health through gum assessment, removing plaque and calculus (tartar), polishing your teeth, and supporting an ideal at-home regime.
The inclusion of a hygiene appointment to your dental health program can significantly enhance preventive care. A hygienist’s professional clean is relevant for all age groups. Our reception can arrange hygienist visit on a separate occasion, or to coincide with another appointment.
