Cosmetic dentistry at Barwon Heads Dental is dedicated to improving the overall appearance of a person’s smile. The overall result of cosmetic dental treatment is improved appearance, better self-image and overall well-being.
Cosmetic treatments can recreate your smile and repair spaces between teeth, broken or chipped teeth, stained or discoloured teeth and even misaligned or poorly shaped teeth.
One of the simpler and less expensive cosmetic dental procedures available. Composite bonding is when the dental material known as a composite resin is shaped and moulded on your teeth to give you a straight white smile or replace lost tooth structure. It's mainly used to treat minor chipped teeth, gaps, and intrinsic staining of teeth. The procedure is most commonly completed in a single visit for wonderful same day changes.
Inlays and Onlays
Crafted in a dental laboratory from porcelain or composite material before being bonded to your tooth, inlays and onlay provide a filling to a tooth that is too decayed or damaged to support a direct restoration such as amalgam or composite.
The most popular cosmetic dentistry procedure year after year, teeth whitening can vastly improve the look of your smile. We can offer both in-chair and take home whitening procedures, with the gold standard treatment of individual custom-made whitening trays as our preference. Take home trays provide continued ability to maintain your beautiful white teeth after the initial procedure if completed.
Dental veneers are custom-made from porcelain or resin composite and are meant to change the colour, shape, size, or length of your teeth's appearance once bonded in place. You can either receive veneers crafted from porcelain or composite resin. Porcelain veneers are created in a dental laboratory from a mould of your teeth. Composite resin veneers are bonded and sculpted on your teeth in the dentist office, usually in a single visit.
Dental implants involve a small surgical procedure that replaces missing teeth via a titanium screw and a customised, precision attached crown . Dental implants are considered the gold standard of tooth replacement and provide strong support for a permanent artificial tooth or teeth. Implant retained restorations can be used to replace a single tooth, all the way to a full arch restoration. Dr Jack has extensive implant restoration experience and has provided training and published information regarding these procedures.
Also referred to as caps, a dental crown is a tooth-shaped "cap" that is placed over your tooth to restore its natural appearance. They are used for the protection of a weak tooth that has suffered extensive decay or to hold a fractured tooth together. A dental crown can also restore a tooth that has been broken and support a tooth that has a large filling but not enough natural tooth left to hold the filling firmly. Crowns are made of several different materials each with its own benefits and price range. Dental crowns tend to be expensive so our dentists usually only recommend them when other procedures are unlikely to produce satisfactory long term results. With proper care, dental crowns last for many years.
